Project Overview
In 2020, the Medicare Reimbursement system underwent the largest reform in over 20 years for home health companies. The reimbursement model changed to what is called the Patient-Driven Groupings Model (PDGM), putting a focus on the quality of patient improvement rather than the quantity of patient visits. The model was based around a complex matrix grouping of over 400 different reimbursement rates depending on the condition and the documented improvement in patient outcomes. Consequently, this radically changed the training clinicians needed to properly document for reimbursement.
Solution
This drastic model shift allowed me to design extensive learning solutions, where I partnered with every department leader in the company. I developed multiple learning experiences, including eLearning modules and classroom training, to give an overview of the model. By implementing scenario-based training that demonstrated the new system in action, the workforce was able to document properly under the new model to maximize patient care and reimbursement.
